5 Years Running ...and it's still just as cold every time. Oh yes, it is New Year's Day 2007, and our annual pilgrimage to the Victorian spa bath at White Wells on the lovely windswept Ilkley Moor. Joshua is barely able to contain his excitement at the thought of his Dad and YS leaping into the icy waters. Cute, cute, cute, Kayleigh kept up an unintentionally hilarious monologue on the walk up to White Wells, "Get that hair, get that hair, get that hair off my face." It doesn't get any warmer, January 1st 2007 and I'm the first brave soul / raving lunatic into the icy waters, second actually, Mark who runs the place says he goes in every single morning, brave or mad ? P joins me for a cold start to the New Year. Wahey, this is my father-in-law Brian, and he's strait in there, no messing about, good on you Brian. Boys, now that your Dad's been in, how about seeing youngsters Chris and Rob up here in 2008 (Andy came with us last year) or are they both too soft ? White Wells was packed this time, the busiest I have seen it in my 5 years of New Year's day plunging, there were loads of kids doing it for sponsorship and the area around the pool was packed with parents and supporters, oh well, we'll be back next year doingit for free. 75 minutes in the water is the record on Jan 1st, my personal best is about 2 minutes, I might go all out for two and a half minutes next year, who is joining us ?
