Book Review : Tears Of The Giraffe - Alexander McCall Smith**** The second novel in the no.1 Ladies Detective Agency Series, I like these, Precious Ramotswe is a great character, full of life, kindness and humanistic intelligence, she's a real people person. In this book, Precious has become engaged to the owner of Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, the calm and kind Mr JLB Matetoni, she has to deal with the case of an American boy who is almost certainly dead, there is an awkward maid hell bent on revenge for losing her job and a secretary with the desire to become Botswana's second lady detective. Precious manages all these problems with an air of unflappablility and calm assurance, even when she becomes an instant mother of two she takes the sudden change in her household and life in her stride. This is a greatly enjoyable series of books, I've got the third one buried on my bookshelves, must dig it out. Review of the first book, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency.
