I heard on the radio last week that a pro cricket league was about to launch in the USA, playing a slightly modified version of 20-20 with a frankly baffling 'substitute hitter' rule the league launched on Fri 3rd July, in some confusion it would appear. Shamed Indian cricketer Ajay Jajeda flew home without playing a match in the league when rumours emerged that neither the ICC nor the BCCI would officially recognise the American event due to the rules changes that had been made. (Jajeda was given a five year ban, later reduced to three, for match fixing). For reasons known only to American TV advertising, they have opted to play the game the a five ball over, yes, you read the correctly, FIVE balls per over instead of six. If you try to register on the pro cricket site, you may well be baffled to learn that your international team in now United Kingdom rather than England, well done the Yanks. I can't give you any results or even list any teams as the website doesn't seem to provide any useful information, but there is this, amongst the list of overseas players which includes Alec Stewart, Richie Richardson, Andrew Caddick and various other waning stars, is this name...........Courtney Ambrose!
